I was an innocent child
Looking upon the world with love
Playing with all my friends
Thankful for each moment in time

Suddenly my father was gone
Another angel up in the sky
At twelve I became a man
With a sorrow-filled heart

Time kept on moving along
I was growing into my role
Helping others along the way

Suddenly my home was gone
Family had thrown me on out
I was eighteen and homeless
With a wounded, sorrow-filled soul

One day life became a circus
Traveling on the open road
My soul’s still filled with purpose
Learning to embrace my dreams

Thankful for my purpose in life

Suddenly she was upon me
The woman of my living dream
But they played their games
So I simply retired, walking away

Fast forward, it’s now today
Gone are my many yesterdays

Yet I’m still thankful for today
