“Benevolence”

I gave away my art
To conceal who I am
I focus on their needs
Our combined love is real
Their absence wears me down
The feeling of being alone
Their love is my addiction
But I remember some things

Who have I become?
My perspectives bent!
Everyone I love goes away
In the end
They can have it all!
My memories of sorrow and hurt!
I will let them go!
When they encase me in dirt.

I wear no crown of gold
Upon my troubled brow
Full of broken dreams
I can’t reconcile
Will I be remembered?
I hide in plain sight!
My gifts and deeds unknown!
So as not to offend!

Who have I become?
My perspectives bent!
Everyone I love goes away
In the end
They can have it all!
My memories of sorrow and hurt
I will let them go
When they encase me in dirt
If I could do it again
I wouldn’t know where to begin
I would remain as I am
I would find a way!
