I was just four years old.
Living in the black hills of Dakota,
Within a trailer park.
One summer’s evening,
Father came home from work.
Both my Mother and Father sat me down,
To explain my sister was on the way.
Nine months passed and we were back in Manitoba.
Little did I know what an angel she would be to me.
Every time I needed a friend,
She was there to lend an ear.
Every time I fell down,
She helped me up again.
Oh, how it would be great to turn the clock back again!
Life’s so simple through your eyes when you’re young,
Money problems don’t exist.
You have no idea what it takes to have a home.
All the sacrifices parents make daily along the way,
You had clothes on your back.
Food was always there to eat.
Even though we did not have much,
I had a little Angel with me.
Every time I needed a friend,
She was there to lend an ear.
Every time I fell down,
She helped me up again.
Now I have reached middle age.
I have the time to reflect;
How many countless times
I found myself in a mess.
Every corner I turned,
My little Sister was there.
Where would I be in this world,
If she was not there to lend a hand?
She’s my little Angel to me.
Every time I needed a friend,
She was there to lend an ear.
Every time I fell down,
She helped me up again.
Late one afternoon while on tour
With the various shows I’d been on,
I received some wonderful news.
My Sister could not wait to call
And spread to me their joy.
Late one summer’s evening
Their little Emily-Eden was born.
A splitting image of my sister.
Another little angel for me!
